Techniques You Will Learn

Learning Outcomes:

Obtain fundamental information of psychiatric disorders according to the DSM-5 and the underlying neuro-physiological mechanisms
Critically apply their understanding to different scenarios including clinical screening, diagnosis and treatments (i.e. psychotherapy).
Trainees/Fellows will get good understanding on variety of mental disorders

Part II

Module 6(Week 6) Leadership Portfolio

This module will allow students to review, appraise and evaluate the application of the knowledge gained throughout the programme within their own professional work environment by providing a portfolio of evidence that is supported by a reflective commentary.

Module 7 (Week 7) Leadership in Practice: Context, culture and change

This module provides an introduction to leadership and management concepts and theories, situated within a healthcare, educational or research based organizational context and culture. It also introduces students to the approaches and evidence base of leadership and management literature and organizational analysis.

Module 8 (Week 8) Understanding Organizations, Systems and Services

This module aims to develop students¿ awareness of the wider context of health professions and clinical leadership through an exploration of health and public service systems, government policy and strategy agendas and the role of professional and statutory bodies.

Module 9 (Week 9) Leading Yourself and Others Effectively

This module focuses on analysing, identifying and developing personal qualities, values, ethics and strategies relating to leadership, management and followership. Through engagement in a range of activities aimed at developing self-awareness and insight, reflection, group and teamworking skills and communication skills, students will be able to determine a personal development plan relating to their career and continuing development in clinical leadership and management.

Module 10 (Week 10) The 'Learning' Organization, Groups and Teams

This module focuses on the nature, structure and role of the organization, exploring how organizations function and how leaders can influence change and development. Taking the idea of the `learning organization¿, the module considers the roles and functions of different groups and individuals in achieving organizational goals and how structures, systems and processes can be designed to motivate employees and stimulate organizational growth. Issues relating to recruiting, developing and retaining people are explored as are the importance of value led leadership and how ethical leadership might be maintained in the face of rapid change and economic uncertainty.

Who Can Apply

This module focuses on the final evaluation of the knowledge application in clinical screening and treatments by the presentation of one case of each category of disorders, elaborating on the diagnostic criteria, and the neuropathology.
