Tasks and Timeline:
Module 1: Development of the central nervous system
This module will discuss how the brain and spinal cord form during embryonic development, which is critical to understanding the structure and function of the adult central nervous structure.
Module 2: Structure and function of the nervous system
This module will provide a basic overview of human neuroanatomy and brain/spinal cord function.
Module 3: Cells of the central and peripheral nervous system
This module will discuss the various cells of the nervous system and their function in health and their role in injury and disease.
Module 4: Synaptic communication
This module will discuss how neurons communicate with each other.
Module 5: Neurotransmitter systems
This module will discuss the function of neurotransmitters and how they regulate brain function.
Module 6: Key motor and sensory pathways
This module will bring together all previous learned material and apply it to overall brain function.
