Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmaceuticals Sciences, and Pharmacy Fellowship: This is a Trialect Partnered Program
The Department of Pharmacy - Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Bari, Italy, and specifically our laboratory can provide short term hands-on traineeship/fellowship (6-12 weeks) in the areas of Medicinal Chemistry. The lab offering you the traineeship is one of the leading labs in the world dealing with enzymes as drug targets in oncology and, neurological and neurodegenerative diseases. Currently, the Cyclooxygenase(COX)-1 as a pharmacological target to be reconsidered is under investigation. Only 3 positions are available. We appreciate if you can refer your students/colleagues/fellows (physicians/biomedical scientists) who may be interested in the program. This highly productive lab will help co-author a few papers, and in addition is interested in long term collaboration with the fellows who go through training.

Equipments: The Department of Pharmacy - Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Bari, Italy, (http://www.farmacia.uniba.it/), is a research and teaching that provides a very deep knowledge on Drug Sciences. The Department is fully equipped to carry out the program outlined above. In particular: (a) instruments for structure assignment to the novel or known compounds: NMR-Varian Inova 400 MHz and-Bruker Aspect 3000 console 500 MHz-FTIR-PerkinElmer 681 spectrometer-GC°VMS from Hewlett-Packard 5995C, Elemental Analyzer 1106-Carlo Erba instrument- ESI-MS analyses-Agilent 1100 LC/MSD trap system VL-Spectrophotomer UV-1800- Schimidazu HPLC from Agilent 1260 Infinity instrument equipped with a 1260 DAD VL+, Refractive Index and Fluorescence detector. (b) instruments for the bio-pharmacological investigation: Microplate reader Victor 3 from PerkinElmer Life Sciences; PerkinElmer LS55 luminescence spectrofluorimeter; Gallios Flow Cytometer-PerkinElmer; Operetta® High Content Imaging System-PerkinElmer; ABI PRISM 7000 Instrument (Applied Biosystem); VersArray confocal imaging system (Bio-Rad); Flow cytometer FC500 Beckman Coulter; Tecan microplate reader Infinite M1000 PRO; Oxytherm System - Hansatech Instruments (c) all the other instruments typically present in molecular and cellular biology laboratories.

This program allows Merit Applications. This program allows merit-based applications for virtual and onsite clinical and research programs. If you are successfully awarded under this category, Trialect or the host mentor will cover the tuition fee only. All applications will be evaluated based on merit. Due to the high level of competition, the chances of being selected under the merit category are quite limited.
