General aims/achievements of a 6-12 weeks fellowship:

A desk space with PC will be allocated. Full induction (safety, laboratory practices, personal welfare, etc.) information will be provided by the OSR protection and prevention service (PPS) designated staff and by myself. An initial meeting will be arranged with the fellow to discuss his/her skills and scientific expectancies, and the objectives of the training. Experimental plans with realistic timelines will be decided. The fellow will be provided of basic literature concerning the scientific theme object of his/her training and trained to run experiments before attempting any. The trainer will be present to provide support during their first run by the fellow. He/she will acquire autonomy in at least one methodology, including data analysis. The fellow will keep adequate records of the work done on a personal laboratory book and his/her activities will be weekly scheduled based on the technical progress and data generated. The fellow will have an open discussion about the aspects of the general running of the laboratory, or specific protocols, and scientific brainstorm with the supervisor and the other team members. The fellow will be given an opportunity to participate in institutional seminars and encouraged to present the results obtained at a research group meeting before leaving, at the end of the attending period. The opportunity (and how) to be involved in disseminating the obtained data and integrating with those produced by the team, will be taken into consideration if enough data generated by the fellow will be available. The training is aimed to improve and integrate the fellow’ knowledge and skills, to increase his/her competitivity, useful for his/her successive career.
