Lecturing and Teaching
This unit is designed for Medical, undergraduate and Master’s students whose degree is more towards Microbiology, Infections and immunity, biotechnology and biomedical sciences & engineering. For this reason, I have developed PowerPoint (ppt) slides based lecture notes and additionally I will be explaining and guiding students on 30 minutes sessions weekly basis via ZOOM/Skype/video chat. In addition, for feedback, course related questions, advice in grant writing proposal and career advice happy to deliver through emails and ZOOM/Skype/video Chat.

Learning and Teaching Resources
There is no set textbook for this unit of study. However, you will be required to complete the PowerPoint notes readings from each lecture and reference to literature. Material presented in lectures will be emailed to the students before the 30 min weekly Skype session, as prerequisites students should go through their notes before the Skype sessions.

University lecturing/teaching experience:
Over 8 years teaching experience, I am actively involved in on-going both teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and postgraduate and PhD students and my contributions to the wider University of Sydney community.
Students count: Postgraduate degree programme (course ID INIM5011 and INIM5012) students count ranges between 14-25 each semester
Undergraduate programme includes over 300 and 90 students each semester from Medical and Dental degree programme respectively
Research supervision and collaborations
Supervision: Total 17 students (5 PhD, 2 Mphil, 4 Masters, 3 honours, 1 graduate diploma and 2 undergraduate summer project students)

Dr. Dr Theerthankar Das, PhD, is a Senior Scientist and lecturer in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology, Sydney Medical School, The University of Sydney, Australia

2005 – 2006 Postgraduate Diploma in Chemistry - School of Applied Chemistry, Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia, Australia.
Curriculum of Study Information: 8 Modules
In this unit, students will be introduced to “Bacterial biofilms and its associated infections and impact on community”. The unit will be subdivided into different contents: A. Role of bacterial self-released molecules in biofilm formation and infection, B. Antibiotic resistance in bacteria, C. Bacterial virulence factors and its implications on host and D. Techniques to study bacterial biofilms. E. Assignment: report writing (approximately: 500 words maximum, excluding references) brief notes on current therapeutic approaches against bacterial infections and examples of new strategies. Refer literatures source in assignment for authentication of report.
