Main Areas of Interest

  • Radiotherapy linac: workflow of advanced radiotherapy, operating the linear accelerator and the on-board imaging system, and performing associated quality control test 
  • Quality Assurance Programme: the comprehensive quality assurance program (QAP) and the patient-specific quality assurance (QA), including clinical dosimetry
  • Image-guided Radiotherapy: uncertainties & accuracy in modern radiotherapy

During your program, you will learn and observe a variety of clinical medical physics practices in radiation oncology.

  • Understand the workflow of advanced radiotherapy, the comprehensive quality assurance program (QAP), and the patient-specific quality assurance (QA), including clinical dosimetry
  • Capable of operating the linear accelerator and the on-board imaging system, and performing associated quality-control tests and competent in the main components of the clinical medical physics aspects of modern radiotherapy
  • Understand uncertainties & accuracy in modern radiotherapy and able to implement related quality assurance programs (QAP)
  • Orientation and Induction: Initial meeting to outline objectives, followed by a comprehensive induction covering safety practices.
  • Hands-on Training:
    • All applicants are required to carry workplace liability insurance. For details and options, visit Protrip World Liability Insurance.
    • Due to regulatory and ethical standards, hands-on training may be limited. Fellows will primarily engage in observational learning with very limited assistance. 
    • Independent linac operation by fellows in the absence of a supervising medical physicist is not permitted. This ensures adherence to high standards of safety.
  • Academic Engagement: Participate in group meetings and attend workshops and conferences within the School and University.
  • Presentation Opportunities: Present your work at a group meeting and discuss potential publication or conference dissemination.
  • Tailored Training Plan: Personal challenges and requests are considered to ensure a responsive and relevant training experience.

This program has the following durations available:

This program allows Merit Applications. This program allows merit-based applications for virtual and onsite clinical and research programs. If you are successfully awarded under this category, Trialect or the host mentor will cover the tuition fee only. All applications will be evaluated based on merit. Due to the high level of competition, the chances of being selected under the merit category are quite limited.

  1. Trainees qualifications
    1. Master’s degree in medical physics or equivalent and;
    2. 2 years clinical medical physics experience or other relevant professional experience
  2. Knowledge and experience requirement
    1. Physics and Mathematics knowledge at undergraduate level
    2. Medical Physics knowledge at postgraduate level
    3. Basic clinical experience in medical physics practice
    4. Medical Physicist registration (MAHPC registration number) or equivalent country certification
