Lecturing and Teaching: The aim of the seminar is to train participants in assessing potential cognitive decline in adults and in the elderly and/or people that are suspected to have a mild to serious cognitive decline. The course is based on the instrument IQCODE and it lasts two weeks. The IQCODE was developed and standardized in 1994 by experts on cognitive decline in the elderly such as Jorm A.F. Since then further data on the validity of the IQCODE have been published increasing the diagnostic power of the test (Jorm, Broe, Creasey et al., 1994). Dr Pentaraki has recently translated and adapted the IQCODE into Greek (Pentaraki, 2012). Participants will be taught the IQCODE and a supplementary technique that increases the reliability and validity of diagnosing cognitive decline and dementia. It is also based on short readings and assignments that aim to increase academic and clinical knowledge in the instrument and in dementia and mild cognitive decline. This clinical workshop is designed for psychologists, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, social workers, GPs, occupational therapists, nurses, neuroscientists.

Tasks and Timeline:
Module 1 (week 1) Participants will study the two published papers on IQCODE and write up a short summary of these papers in order to understand the theory and research evidence of the assessment. Participants will be taught how to provide the IQCODE & the MMSE and they will need to practice the test to a caregiver, child or partner of an old person.
Module 2 (week 2) Participants will learn how to score the IQCODE and interpret the test. They will learn how to score IQCODE with DemeGraph (a scoring technique that combines the scores of IQCODE and MMSE) in order to increase diagnostic reliability. At the end of week II they will have to answer a short MCQ on the learning material.
