The purpose of the grant is to create an opportunity for a constellation of researchers to plan for a future application for a grant to establish a cluster of excellence for cutting-edge technology, with a focus on future technology areas. The grant will be reported back to the Swedish Research Council after 6 months.

Applicant
The network grant is applied for by you as an individual researcher together with your organization (Swedish university or college or any other Swedish organization that meets our requirements to be a fund manager of the Swedish Research Council's grant ). We must have approved your organization as a fund manager for you to be able to apply. The fund manager must sign your application in Prisma, within 7 calendar days from the application deadline.
You must have completed a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree by the application deadline for this call. For those with a Swedish doctoral degree, the date of issue of the degree registered in Ladok applies.
You are the project manager and responsible for the described activity. The time you allocate (your activity level, i.e. percentage of full-time work) must be adapted to the task and its implementation throughout the grant period.
You do not need to be employed by the fund manager at the time of application, but you must be employed when the grant period begins and then throughout the grant period and additional time available. The employment must comprise at least 20 percent of a full-time position.
Applications are evaluated on:
Scientific Quality – clarity, theoretical basis, aims, and methods
Novelty & Originality – innovation, advancing the field, potential for paradigm shifts
These are rated on a seven-point scale (1–7)
Your competence and track record are assessed relative to your career stage and project needs.
Emphasis is placed on recent productivity (e.g. publications, grants, supervision) over the past ~4 years .
Feasibility is rated 1–3 and focuses on:
Realism of methodology and timeline
Available resources (partners, facilities)
Risk management and ethics compliance
Review panels weigh Scientific Quality and Applicant Merit more heavily than Novelty, with Feasibility factored in if it's a concern .
Many calls include additional evaluation aspects such as:
Relevance to the call or research infrastructure
Interdisciplinarity or societal impact
Gender and ethical perspectives .
Analysis shows successful applicants often have:
International mobility and global collaborations
An academic environment that supports independent research
Funding and time allocated for meaningful project development .
Applications are reviewed by at least three external experts.
