Nanopathology: The health impact of nanoparticles

Fondazione Nanodiagnostics

Dr. Antonietta Gatti is a physicist with a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of Bologna. She currently serves as an Associate Professor at Italy's National Research Council, Institute of Science and Technology of Ceramic Materials. Additionally, she holds positions as a Professor at the University of Urbino and as a Visiting Professor at the Norwich University Applied Research Institutes (NUARI) in the United States.

Dr. Gatti is renowned for her discovery of "nanopathologies," which are diseases caused by exposure to engineered or incidental nanoparticles leading to nano-bio-interactions. Her interdisciplinary expertise spans physics, chemistry, biology, physiology, medicine, and pathology. Over her 30-year career, she has coordinated several European projects, including "Nanopathology," which developed new clinical diagnostic tools, and "DIPNA," focusing on nanotoxicology. She has also served as a consultant to the Italian Governmental Commission on Depleted Uranium and related diseases.
