Laboratory at the Centro Regionale Antidoping e di Tossicologia “A. Bertinaria” in Turin, Italy, received ISO 17025 accreditation in 2009 and performs over 300,000 tests per year for road and workplace drug testing, driving re-licensing and drug abuse history. The host faculty members are regularly appointed as expert by the prosecutors or counsels in Italy to provide chemical analysis and assessment within complex judicial cases on biological fluids, drug-facilitated crimes and post-mortem. The host mentors are Members of the International Scientific Team for anti-doping analyses during the XX Olympic Winter Games and the IX Paralympic Winter Games.

Curriculum

Program Duration: 2 weeks

Day 1

Morning: Introduction on Forensic Toxicology (class)

Afternoon: Practice on Sample treatment: urine (lab)

Day 2

Morning: Lesson on Hair analysis 1 (class)

Afternoon: Practice on Sample treatment: urine (lab)

Day 3

Morning: Lesson on Hair analysis 2 (class)

Afternoon: Practice on Sample treatment: blood (lab)

Day 4

Full day: Practice on Sample treatment: hair (lab)

Day 5

Full day: Practice on Sample treatment: hair (lab)

WEEK #2: Day 1-5

Interpretation of results from real hair samples

Over the weekends, enjoy local tourism on your own. Closest Airport: Milan, and then take a train to Turin that takes less than 50 minutes.

Good about the program/ host mentor: The lab staffs were very nice and friendly. They also ready to teach about their routine works or any of my questions. The routine works of the lab cover most of the works in the field of forensic toxicology. Areas of improvement: The duration of the program is quite short. I am okay for the future fellows to contact me (future fellows need to contact us at support@trialect.com for trialect to connect to the previous applicants)
