Are you ready to expand your creative skills in research and develop unconventional ideas, hypotheses or theories? The Night Science funding initiative invites you to do just that! We are looking for interdisciplinary teams of two researchers who inspire, complement and challenge each other. The aim is to create a space in which new approaches can emerge - without the pressure to produce immediate results. Take this opportunity to rethink your research and bring fresh ideas to your scientific work in a creative partnership.
area of research: Natural, Life and Engineering Sciences (excluding medical sciences)
type of funding: Promotion of scientists’ creativity in tandems + obligatory support programme with three workshops
amount: max. 200,000 euro
duration: 1 year
The decision will be made by a qualified lottery procedure. No funding for the positions of the applicants is possible.
The Volkswagen Foundation invites proposals that focus on the creativity of researchers rather than on an existing research idea or a classical research project. Up to ten tandems, each consisting of two researchers, will be supported in an intensive interdisciplinary exchange over the course of one funding year. We are looking for people who are open to unconventional approaches and who want to develop and implement innovative ideas for their research.
Funding can be requested for a range of activities that will enable recipients to reduce their current professional commitments and devote more time to free creative thinking. A maximum of 200,000 EUR can be requested per tandem.
During the funding period, there will be three accompanying workshops, which are mandatory for both tandem partners. The workshops are designed to equip participants with a creative and proactive mindset. They offer space to develop individual creative strategies while providing a structured framework for inspiration and reflection on the topic.
aimed at: Researchers who completed their PhD before June 1, 2021. Employment contract duration until at least March 31, 2028.
