The 2026 Australian Society for Antimicrobials (ASA) Annual Keryn Christiansen Research Grant of up to $25,000 to support original research will be available soon.

The research funds are to be used for the project, as per the budget application only. ASA does not support an institution’s infrastructure or overhead costs.

The grant application and CV will be assessed by a panel of at least six independent reviewers using a standardised scoring system. Applicants will be informed of the decision one week before the ASA annual scientific meeting “Antimicrobials 2026”.
Applications will be accepted online up to 30 October 2025.
You must be a financial member and your Principal Investigator (PI) must have held membership for ≥12 months
The grant supports original antimicrobial research that aligns with ASA’s core objectives—e.g., stewardship, pharmacodynamics, resistance
Preference is given to stand-alone projects with clear aims and deliverables.
The scheme favors early-career researchers, helping build profiles and experience .
You must include Head of Department confirmation ensuring necessary resources and institutional backing
Applications are scored by at least six independent reviewers using standardized criteria
Successful recipients are expected to present at the Annual Scientific Meeting and contribute to ASA's newsletter or website.
Grants are capped at AUD 25,000, strictly covering project costs. Institutional infrastructure or overheads are excluded
Progress reports at 12 and 24 months, along with submission of an article/summary to ASA's newsletter are required
To qualify, you must be a member for 12 months and present a proffered paper or poster at the ASA Meeting.
Awards include airfare, accommodation, and registration (up to AUD 2,500), with a post-meeting report for the newsletter required.
