The DEMTECH program aims to promote the development of innovative and user-friendly technologies so that people with dementia can live independently at home for longer. DEMTECH does this by offering knowledge institutions, companies and healthcare organizations co-financing to develop these technologies.
In 2040, there are expected to be 500,000 people with dementia. Almost 80% of these people live at home. At the same time, the staff shortage in healthcare is growing and the availability of informal care is decreasing. This calls for a fundamental change in the support of people with dementia.
DEMTECH's mission is to promote self-reliance and autonomy in the daily lives of people with dementia in the home situation, to prevent crisis situations and to relieve the pressure on informal caregivers and professional care. We do this by developing innovative technologies for a fundamental change in dementia care.
On April 1, 2025, DEMTECH opened a call for proposals for consortia of knowledge institutes, healthcare organizations and companies to submit project proposals. The deadline for submitting applications is July 1, 2025 at 5:00 PM.
For selected projects we organize co-creation sessions and user research to improve the content of the projects. Before and after this an independent assessment committee will assess the projects.
Projects must align with Alzheimer Nederland’s strategic research agenda, which emphasizes improving quality of life, care innovations, and implementation/outcome-focused research—rather than prevention or cures .
