The Graduate Education Fund provides support of up to US $40,000 to Australian, Indigenous Australian, American and Indigenous American individuals undertaking or planning to undertake full-time Graduate level study (Masters, Ph.D. or Postdoctoral Research) at an accredited educational institution in the Australia to USA direction or USA to Australia direction.
There are two scholarship application rounds offered each year (one in each direction):
Australia to USA: Open for application on January 1 to March 31.
USA to Australia: Open for application on August 1 to September 30.

AAA funding is primarily for:
Australians studying or researching in the US
Americans studying or researching in Australia
Fields include STEM, sustainability, health, Indigenous studies, and arts

2. 👩🔬 Graduate or Postdoctoral Study Focus
Most grants go to PhD students, postdocs, or early-career researchers
Applicants demonstrate strong academic records and research potential
✅ Predictor: You have high academic merit and a well-defined study/research plan.
3. 📚 Alignment with AAA’s Priority Areas
Funded areas include:
STEM research and innovation
Medicine and public health
Environmental sustainability
Education and Indigenous issues
Creative arts
✅ Predictor: The proposal fits AAA’s funding streams, such as the Education Fund, USA to Australia Fellowship, or Indigenous scholarships.
4. 🌍 Demonstrated International Impact
Applications that build long-term links between US and Australian institutions have higher success
Research that benefits both countries or has global relevance is prioritized
✅ Predictor: The proposal shows clear bilateral collaboration and societal benefit.

Competitive applications have endorsement from host institutions (acceptance letters, supervision offers)

Applicants must have a formal letter of offer from an accredited institution, program or course at the time of application
Educational programs must be atleast one year off ulltime study
Dual citizens are not eligible
