The certified breast center at the University Hospital for Gynecology, Pius-Hospital, Oldenburg, Germany, is a leading institution specializing in breast tumor surgery. Our team of expert surgeons is dedicated to providing comprehensive care for all breast-related tumors, performing surgeries with a focus on precision and patient well-being. We offer a range of surgical options, including breast reconstruction with implants and reduction mastectomy, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients. In addition to our expertise in tumor surgery, our center also offers a full spectrum of pure plastic breast surgeries. Our skilled plastic surgeons excel in performing augmentation and reduction surgeries, tailoring each procedure to meet our patient's unique needs and desires. While we offer a wide range of advanced breast surgeries, it's important to note that we do not perform DIEP or TRAM flaps.

As the University Hospital for Gynecology, Pius-Hospital Oldenburg, University Medicine Oldenburg, is the largest Gynecological surgical unit in a radius of 100 kilometers, a high amount of surgeries are done. On a weekly basis, at least 50 surgeries are performed.

Curriculum

4-12 weeks curriculum

Fellows will be supported to settle down into their new environment (find appropriate accommodation and locate amenities at their expense). An initial meeting with the fellow will be arranged to discuss the objectives of the training. Full induction (safety, practices, personal welfare) will be informed by our staff.

The fellow will be fully appraised of all activities of the Department. They will be able to engage with me (supervisor) and other group members in different procedures. Depending on their interest, they will also be involved in clinical research and write a manuscript during their stay.

The fellow will be allowed to participate in group meetings and other academic activities within the School and the University, including attending workshops, conferences, etc. They will also be encouraged to present their work orally at a group meeting at least once before completing their visit.

Towards the end of the training, I will meet with the fellow to discuss plans to publish their clinical work (if enough data is collected) or disseminate their findings at a future conference.

When is the expected date of visit? I was planning to go after May. If I pay the fellowship fees, how long is the fellowship valid to visit the host institution? And what support could I expect from Trialect for visa to visit the host country eg ( any letter etc)?

What is the role of the trainer? Is it an observership program or hands-on training?

All fellows can have a hand-on-training and assisting in the operating theatre. Following German law, they are not allowed to manage patients in absence of a home based specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology. There are ten instructors on the level of specialized gynecological surgeon and in the meantime specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology to take care during the training period.

I am a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, is this program is suitable for my career or not? There is also reconstructive breast surgery will be seen in the curriculum or not? Thank you

Sure, It should be very useful. The program is more focused on reconstructive surgeries in Breast Cancer cases.

Good morning..,Thank you for accepting me into the Plastic and reconstruction for breast cancer program.I however hoped that I would get in on the merit category as stated after my application.I appreciate subsidising fees for the priority category which I fall under but are there grants I can access?I would really love to partake of this but beign from low income country,I was really hoping for the merit category. In the absence of that,are there grants open to me?
