Fellows will receive full support to settle into their new environment, including assistance with finding suitable accommodation and locating amenities. A dedicated desk space will be provided. Comprehensive induction will be conducted by the University’s designated staff and myself, covering safety protocols, laboratory practices, and personal welfare.
An initial meeting will be arranged to discuss the objectives of the training and establish a clear plan for achieving them. The fellow will be integrated into all clinical activities within the Department and will have the opportunity to observe and assist in a wide range of surgical procedures, particularly in the areas of sports injuries, arthroscopic surgery, and joint preservation techniques. They will gain hands-on experience under supervision, participating in pre-operative assessments, surgical interventions, and post-operative care.
In addition to clinical involvement, fellows will also engage in clinical research projects, contributing to ongoing studies and working on a manuscript during their stay. They will be encouraged to actively participate in group discussions, clinical case presentations, and academic conferences.
Fellows will be supported to partake in group meetings and other academic activities within the School and the University, including specialized workshops, symposia, and relevant conferences. They will also be given the opportunity to present their work at least once during a group meeting before the conclusion of their visit.
Towards the end of the training, I will hold a meeting with the fellow to discuss plans for publishing their clinical work (if sufficient data has been collected) or presenting their findings at a future conference. Throughout the training, any unique challenges or specific requests from the fellow will be fully considered to ensure a tailored and effective training plan is developed that meets their needs and goals.
