Week 1: Orientation & Fundamentals

Day 1–2: Settling Down & Introduction

Overview of clinical cases and surgical schedules

Day 3–5: Fundamentals of Male Potency Reconstruction

Anatomy and vascular physiology of the penis
Introduction to penile fibrovascular architecture
Key differences in penile arterial and venous systems
Imaging techniques for surgical planning:
- High-resolution Doppler ultrasound
- X-ray cavernosography
Ethical considerations and patient consent in penile reconstruction

Week 2: Observation & Clinical Case Discussions

Clinical Case Exposure:

Patient assessment and diagnosis
Selection criteria for reconstructive procedures
Penile venous stripping: indications and patient selection
Dynamic infusion cavernosometry and cavernosography
Live surgical observation: penile vascular reconstruction

Surgical Workshop & Hands-On Training (Longer-duration fellows only):

Week 3–4: Surgical Techniques & Hands-on Training

Hands-On Exposure (for 4+ week fellows):

Assistance in minor procedures under supervision
Application of Doppler and cavernosography in preoperative planning
Learning postoperative care, management, and complication handling

Week 5–8: Advanced Surgical Training & Independent Case Handling

(Available for fellows staying 8+ weeks, increasing hands-on exposure)

Assisting in major reconstructive surgeries
Performing supervised portions of microsurgical procedures (e.g., vascular suturing, implant positioning)
Managing post-surgical patient care
Reviewing surgical outcomes using imaging techniques
Case report discussions and documentation

Week 9–12: Research & Certification

(Available for fellows staying 10–12 weeks for advanced training and research involvement)

Participation in clinical research projects
Writing case reports for scientific publication
Presenting findings in a grand round or case discussion seminar
Submission of a surgical log for performance assessment
Final certification and feedback session with Dr. Geng-Long Hsu

Completion & Certification

All fellows receive a Certificate of Completion
High-performing fellows may receive a Letter of Recommendation
Eligible fellows can participate in clinical research or co-authoring publications

This program allows Merit Applications. This program allows merit-based applications for virtual and onsite clinical and research programs. If you are successfully awarded under this category, Trialect or the host mentor will cover the tuition fee only. All applications will be evaluated based on merit. Due to the high level of competition, the chances of being selected under the merit category are quite limited.
