Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology and Dentistry

All the fieldwork will be depending on the weather conditions and the research project in which the laboratory will be involved.
All the trainees will be supervised by two forensic anthropologist from the laboratory (LAOF) and they will get involved in the MSc and PhD student team.
Dates (2 possible periods: autumn and spring)
The complete program includes both work in field and laboratory. During 6 weeks trainees will be involved in the main tasks of forensics anthropologist at LAOF.
Lab program (4 weeks)
1 week: Human skeletal anatomy and differences between human and animal bones.
Biological profile in adults: estimation of sex, age, stature and ancestry.
Forensic odontology and dental anatomy.
2 week:Subadults skeletons.
Anatomy and growing.
3 week: Pathology.
Trauma injures relate to forensic cases.
Identification process.
4 week: Human rights. Spanish Civil War.
Cremated remains.
Taphonomy and bone alterations.
Mass disasters.
Field program (2 weeks)
5 and 6 weeks: Visiting different archaeological sitesfrom the prehistory to nowadays.
Visiting mass graves form the Spanish Civil War.
Doing fieldwork to recover antemortem information.
