The 1st Propedeutic Department of Surgery at A.U.Th is a tertiary referral center for thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery. It is one of the largest service of its kind in Greece performing in excess of 400 operations per annum including 250 thyroidectomies, 120 parathyroidectomies and 20 adrenalectomies. The Endocrine Unit of the 1st Propedeutic Department of Surgery performs all the range of endocrine surgery including classic, minimal invasive and transoral thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy, laparoscopic adrenalectomy. Moreover, we perform radioguided parathyroid surgery, as well as ICG- and autofluorescence- guided endocrine surgery. The department is actively involved in clinical and basic research. The fellowship is intended for surgeons planning a career in endocrine surgery.
Thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery.
The Endocrine Surgical Fellow will have a key role in the coordination and provision of endocrine surgical care at AHEPA University Hospital and Euromedica Kyanous Stavros. They will receive comprehensive exposure to the diagnosis, work up, perioperative care and operative surgery both as first assistant and operator (depending on the initial familiarization with each procedure). It is expected that they will also supervise more junior staff both on the ward, in clinic and the operating theatre.
