My fellowship in Portsmouth Hospital University, NHS Trust under the mentorship of Prof Jim Khan and team was an extraordinary experience. I consider it a milestone in my surgical career. It is a wholesome experience with ample exposure to various robotic surgery procedures and advanced laparoscopic procedures. The team was very inclusive and discussed the imaging and management of the cases with the fellows. Had the opportunity to attend MDTs which discussed various complex pathologies. Overall it was a great experience doing this traineeship with an amazing team. There was adequate time for us to be trained on simulators, Royal College endorsed robotic surgical skills course (ROBO-Cert)and learn the tips and tricks during live surgery. I will definitely recommend this traineeship as a preliminary exposure to all colorectal fellows aiming to do robotic surgery.

Very pleasant experience. Many things to learn. Very instructive. I used a lot of information in my daily practice. Mentor was very helpful and attentive. Even if it’s an observership, a little more acknowledgement of the visitor’s presence and learning needs would be appreciated. All in all, a great experience.

I was very privileged to have been trained and mentored by Professor Jim Khan. He is very nice, humble, and very patient in answering all my questions about their management of colorectal diseases, especially during their robotic surgical procedures. He was very enthusiastic in teaching everything he knows about robotic colorectal surgery. Likewise, I was able to join Prof Khan and his fellows/residents during their handovers and morning rounds, attend Colorectal MDTs, and perform robot simulators. I am also blessed to have worked with his fellows, who were very kind, and made me feel at home. I am very much grateful for the opportunity to be mentored by such a highly esteemed but humble colorectal surgeon. The traineeship here in Portsmouth is highly recommended. Looking forward to visiting Portsmouth again in the future

I am very grateful for prof Jim Khan for such a great reception. The team is very welcoming and was able to get know all the surgeons on the colorectal division as well as to watch a great variety of procedures, especially robotic surgeries with Prof Jim Khan. The expertise in minimally invasive surgery was excellent and was definitely helpful for my practice back home. I am very greatful for prof Jim Khan for such a great reception.
