Lecturing and Teaching: This Traineeship is designed for undergraduate students, postgraduate students and medical health professionals that intend to conduct / have started an observational research study.

Modules
Module 1: The what, the how and the why of clinical research
This course aims to introduce clinical research, underlie the importance of ethical and data protection clearances along with providing an understanding of the different types of research misconduct
Module 2: Observational studies
In this course, we will learn about the various study designs available with a focus on observational studies and their associated characteristics
Module 3: The research proposal
In this course, we will define a research proposal, how to design one as well as formulate a research budget with a Gantt chart
Module 4: Conducting a cross-sectional study
In this course, we will learn how to conduct a cross-sectional study following different tools of measures including interview surveys and health examination surveys, along with gaining an understanding of the differences between quantitative and qualitative studies
Module 5: Writing a scientific article
In this course, we will learn how to transform your study’s results into an original scientific article
Module 6: Submitting to a journal
In this course, we will learn how to identify the best journal for your scientific article while gaining an understanding of the different types of journals available including predatory journals

This program allows Merit Applications. This program allows merit-based applications for virtual and onsite clinical and research programs. If you are successfully awarded under this category, Trialect or the host mentor will cover the tuition fee only. All applications will be evaluated based on merit. Due to the high level of competition, the chances of being selected under the merit category are quite limited.

It is not really an area to improve, but I would have liked to have a practical experience as well, actually writing an article. The trainer was exceptionally well prepared, Dr. Sarah Cuschieri herself is an renowned publisher and wrote many articles and books. Sharing her experience with me was very helpful for my future writing career. Very nice experience with the the trainer, she was very flexible in regards of hours and also dates for our on-line meetings. It was very useful for me and for my future career. I highly recommend this fellowship.
My experience helped me understand and appreciate the realities of doing clinical research. From generating a research question from a real world problem to the process of publication to communicate findings, research takes a lot of patience and hard work. But with the help of mentors who are passionate to share years of experience, one can stay focused in the research journey. This is what I have l learned from my mentor, Dr. Sarah Cuschieri. None
