Toward ElucidAting MechanismS of HIV Pathogenesis within the Mission of the NIDDK (Pathogenesis TEAMS) (R01 Clinical Trial Optional)

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) seeks to support multidisciplinary research teams with complementary expertise in HIV and pathobiology, pathophysiology, and/or metabolism in organs, tissues, and/or biological systems of specific interest to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). These teams will comprehensively interrogate fundamental biological mechanisms underlying HIV-associated comorbidities, co-infections, and complications relevant to the mission of NIDDK and advance progress toward preventing or alleviating them.

  • Nonprofits without 501(c)(3) IRS Status (Other than Institutions of Higher Education)

For-Profit Organizations

Local Governments

Foreign components, as defined in the NIH Grants Policy Statement, are allowed. 

Eligible Individuals (Program Director/Principal Investigator)

Any individual(s) with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research as the Program Director(s)/Principal Investigator(s) (PD(s)/PI(s)) is invited to work with their organization to develop an application for support. Projects submitted to this NOFO must propose multiple-PDs/PIs and must include at least one PD/PI whose expertise is primarily in HIV science and at least one other PD/PI with expertise in physiology, pathophysiology, pathobiology, or metabolism of specific interest to NIDDK.
