Grants up to SEK 450,000, exceptionally slightly higher, is awarded for research in the following areas:
The research must be conducted in Sweden at an established research institution.
The foundation's grants are primarily intended to cover the costs of materials and equipment in connection with laboratory work. However, overhead costs of up to 23% are allowed.
It follows from this that the foundation's contributions are intended to cover costs for materials and equipment in connection with laboratory sessions.
There is no limit to how long contributions can be made to an ongoing project.
The text in the application must be written in Swedish or English.
In 2023, 81 medical applications were submitted. 42 of these were prioritized for grants with amounts between SEK 100,000 and SEK 400,000.
A total of SEK 10,411,000 was awarded.
The Åhlén Foundation awards grants every year. Application period 1 July - 15 September.
Decisions on the distribution of grants are made by the foundation's board during the month of November and notification is provided to applicants before the end of the year.

Complete applications, which must be submitted via the foundation's web form (see below), will be accepted during the period July 1 to September 15.

Applicants who have previously been granted a grant from the Åhlén Foundation must have submitted an account of this in order for a new application to be processed .
Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Grants are only granted to researchers with a doctorate.
