Fredrik and Ingrid Thuring's Foundation awards grants once a year to medical research. The board has decided to limit the purpose to psychiatric research, both with a focus on children and young people and with regard to adults. Clinical research is given priority.
Preclinical research can be considered if it is relevant to the fund's purposes and has clinical implications.
The foundation distributes approx. SEK 4 million. The grants are in the order of 50 - 300,000 kroner.
Priority applicants are partly registered doctoral students relatively close to their defense and/or after completing the mid-term seminar, partly doctoral researchers where no more than 5 years have passed since the defense of the thesis. The board therefore only exceptionally grants applications from researchers who have not yet completed their dissertation or who completed their dissertation more than 5 years before the time of application. Exceptions to this 5-year limit can be parental leave.
The same applicant/project can be awarded grants a maximum of three times in consecutive years, provided that an account of previously granted grants has been submitted.
The applicant must conduct his research at a Swedish university or educational institution.
Scholarships for financing studies fall outside the foundation's activities.
The application must reach the foundation no later than 15 October at 23.59. The application period is open between 15 September at 00.01 and 15 October at 23:59.
Decisions are announced during the month of December.
A concise (one A4 page, no special printing) report on the use of the grant and achieved results must be submitted in the electronic system.
ATTENTION! If you intend to apply for continued funding, please attach your report together with your new application.
