Grants are awarded to scientists and Swedish scientific and cultural institutions in the fields of humanities and social sciences, natural sciences including engineering sciences, and medicine. Swedish scientists are persons with Swedish citizenship or foreign citizens who have been permanently resident in Sweden and have continuously conducted research in Sweden for at least five years.
Grants are awarded in the range of SEK 5,000 - 150,000.
Grants for scientific research are only granted in exceptional cases to researchers who have not completed a doctoral degree or demonstrated equivalent competence.
Grants are preferably awarded to researchers who have recently developed an independent line of research.
Grants for essays and other lower-level work, as well as printing of doctoral dissertations before defense, are not granted.
Scholarships to finance the applicant's studies fall outside the foundation's activities.
Contributions to costs for congress travel etc. are only granted in exceptional cases.
Grants to cover costs for completed and published works are not granted.
The foundation only provides grants for one year at a time and cannot commit to continued grants.
The foundation requires a cost surcharge of preferably no more than 20% of the amount applied for.
Funds for salary costs are not granted, nor are other funds to cover the applicant's living expenses in their home country. However, grants for fees for well-specified and time-limited work tasks within the project may be available.
Granted research grants are only paid to the grant administrator specified in the submitted application. Any changes require written approval from the specified grant administrator.
