South-Eastern Health RHF is announcing funding for research-based innovation for the development of new products, services and methods. The relevant innovation projects must be continuations of results from research projects that have previously received research funding from South-Eastern Health RHF. The innovation funding is intended to support the early phase of the idea development process, before commercialization, so that a basis can be built for registration by DOFI and collaboration with technology transfer environments.
Allocations of regional funds for research-based innovation will therefore be made continuously throughout the call period.
What can be applied for?
Applications for up to NOK 500,000 for research-based innovation can be made for the continuation of results and ideas from research projects. The funds will be used to strengthen the basis for the continuation of the results in a commercialization process, for example to help initiate collaboration with a technology transfer environment. This means that projects that have already had a DOFI ( Disclosure of Invention ) accepted by a TTO will only exceptionally be eligible for the allocation of regional funds for research-based innovation. The applicant institution is not entitled to take a contribution towards the funding allocated. The same project can only receive funding for research-based innovation once.

Applications will be assessed on the basis of the results achieved in the research project, novelty value/innovation level and project plan. The Regional Development Plan 2040 will form the basis for the assessment of applications for research-based innovation at an overall level. The decision to allocate funds will be based on a comprehensive assessment of the application with project description with emphasis on the following elements:
The applicant must be the project manager for the innovation project and the previous research project that has previously received funding from Helse Sør-Øst RHF . The applicant must be employed in at least a 20% position at a health enterprise in the region, or a private, non-profit hospital that has an operating agreement with Helse Sør-Øst RHF at the time of application. The applicant's main position must also be at an institution in the health region. The application is submitted through the applicant institution and is anchored in it. The application must be linked to new results and ideas achieved through previous research activities, i.e. the research project cannot have been completed more than two years before the time of application.
