The scholarship will stimulate continued development of patient safety in Swedish orthopedics, by drawing attention to and rewarding a multi-professional development or improvement work that in the past year has shown, or on good grounds can be assumed to reduce, the risk of medical injuries.
The scholarship is awarded to one or more clinics/units whose employees are rewarded. The scholarship amount is to be used for continued work to reduce the risk of health care injuries, and the receiving clinic/unit decides how this is to be done.
The Rheumatism Association and the Swedish Orthopedic Association's Patient Safety Scholarship are awarded annually to one or more clinics/units. The applicant must submit an application to the Swedish Orthopedic Association's (SOF) quality manager no later than May 31, containing a personal justification that shows how the applicant fulfills the stated criteria. The application must fit on one A4 page.
Justification
The justification must contain a clear account of how a multiprofessional development or improvement work was carried out, as well as clearly show the profit from the patient's perspective. One should specify one or more indicators that can be assumed to correlate with the achieved result and show the difference achieved during the implementation. The indicators should be generalizable so that the work can also be used in other clinics/units.
Decision
By August 1st of the same year at the latest, the jury proposes to SOF's board and to the Rheumatism Association's board one or more suitable scholarship recipients. The recipient/s are appointed by SOF's board together with the Rheumatism Association. The patient safety grant can be shared between several clinics/units. The total amount of the scholarship amounts to SEK 25,000.
Dividend
The recipient(s) will be announced during Orthopedic Week. The handing over of the scholarship takes place in the autumn of the same year on site at the receiving clinic/unit by a representative of SOF and the Rheumatism Association. Reporting of how the scholarship has been used takes place in writing one year after the handover to SOF's patient safety committee for further promotion to the Rheumatic Association and SOF's board.
Nomination no later than May 31 to: kvalitetsansvarig@ortopedi.se
