The IBRO/Dana Brain Awareness Week (BAW) Grants aim to educate the public on the benefits of neuroscience research, inspire greater awareness about the wonders of the brain, and foster deeper discussions about the intersection of neuroscience and society.
About the Program
Brain Awareness Week is the global campaign to foster public engagement and support for brain science. Through various activities, BAW raises awareness regarding the significant and positive impact of brain science on our daily lives. Activities may include outreach efforts directed at local schools, the establishment of advocacy groups, and events targeted at policymakers and the media. The BAW campaign offers a distinctive platform for participants to highlight the importance of neuroscience research within their community, promoting understanding of brain science among people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
Brain Awareness Week grants aim to bridge gaps in knowledge and promote global brain health awareness by supporting these outreach and awareness initiatives, particularly in regions challenged by a lack of resources, support, and public understanding of the brain. We especially encourage interdisciplinary projects that highlight how neuroscience benefits society and engages diverse audiences in meaningful discussions in this area.
Activities should emphasize DEI values as described in the ALBA Network’s guidelines for organizing a diverse conference and inclusive forms for gender and sexual diversity. Proposals must also align with IBRO’s visibility guidelines to maximize their potential for funding.
