IADR Innovation Award for Excellence in Orthodontics Research

To acknowledge excellence in Orthodontics Research conducted and presented by Orthodontics innovators at all levels at the IADR General Session & Exhibition.

How to Enter and Timeline

To submit your abstract for the INNOVATION Award;
• Applicants must first submit their abstract to the IADR abstract submission platform and select the INNOVATION Award in Orthodontics Research Group option.
• Applicants may only apply to one Competition sponsored by the Orthodontics Research Group. Selecting multiple awards will result in disqualification.
• All abstracts must be submitted by the deadline on the IADR General Session & Exhibition website.
• Finalists will be selected among eligible applicants whose abstracts have been accepted under the regular IADR scientific review.

Judging

•    The competition will be scheduled before the IADR meeting. All competitors must be present for the online judging session. If the finalists fail to present at the judging session will be disqualified.
•    10 abstracts from all entries (oral or poster) will be selected for the competition.
•    The abstract must present an advancement in Orthodontics.
•    For the competition, authors of the selected entries will present their work in online presentation format to 2-4 judges. (Please note that this presentation is in addition to the poster or oral presentation to be given at the IADR meeting.)
•    Each finalist will have 10 minutes to present their research plus 5 minutes for questions from the judges.

Awards presentation

•    The award certification ceremony and winner announcement will be at the Orthodontic Research Group reception during the IADR General session.
•    One winner will be selected from the finalists.
•    The winner will be awarded USD 500, Certificate of Recognition and expedited review to publish his/her award-winning research in INNOVATION, an open access, peer-reviewed, online journal published by CTOR Press. (Please note that winners’ manuscripts will be peer-reviewed; therefore, each manuscript must meet the publication standards for INNOVATION.)
•    IADR will issue the award's prize money to the winner after the meeting (usually 3-4 weeks)
•    The remaining finalists will receive a Certificate of Excellence.

Criteria

•    All applicants must be current members of IADR.
•    All applicants must be current Orthodontics Research Group (ORG) members.
•    Competition is open to Orthodontics innovators at all levels – faculty, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, dental residents, and dental students.
•    Applicants must submit their abstract online to the Orthodontics Research Group through the IADR abstract submission portal by the established deadline.
•    The abstract must present an advancement in Orthodontics.
•    Abstracts must be 300 words or less and have the following headings: Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
The following individuals are NOT eligible to apply to this Competition (but may be listed as co-authors involved in the research):
1.    Current officers of the IADR Orthodontics Research Group
2.    Previous award winners of this awards program
