The main purpose of the Skin Foundation is to protect and develop dermato-venereological research in Sweden. This requires stable academic platforms in the subject. The Skin Foundation's contribution to financing dermato-venereological research has, fortunately, developed very positively in recent years, but since it is limited, it must be specifically directed at dermato-venereological university units to enable their positive development. We will now apply this strategy consistently, which means that only applicants who are employed at or affiliated with a dermato-venereological university unit and whose grant is managed by such a unit are eligible to apply for a grant from the Skin Foundation.
In recent years, the foundations have awarded 10–14 million SEK/year to research where the main applicant is employed at a dermato-venereological unit in Sweden. Eligible to apply for a project grant are doctoral researchers affiliated with a dermato-venereological university unit where a possible grant will also be managed.
The boards of the foundations hereby request those who wish to apply for grants to submit applications no later than March 31. Please note that:
- Applicants can only be the main applicant for a project.
- Applications for participation in digital scientific conferences and congresses must be submitted before the meeting begins (only one grant per year can be applied for).
- Applications are made separately for meetings and projects.
- Large and long-term projects are now given the opportunity to apply for project grants for up to 3 years.
- This year's application contains a novelty that we believe and hope may be relevant to several research colleagues, namely the opportunity to apply for grants for stays in a foreign research environment to learn new technology and establish international collaborations. The aim is to support researchers relatively early in their careers and you can apply for up to SEK 100,000. Applications are made through our service on the website www.hudfonden.se from March 1. Only applications made electronically via our service will be considered when evaluating grants.
The next application period for Welander-Finsen is March 1–March 31, 2025 .
Research and travel grants are mainly decided at the end of the second quarter of each application year.
Eligible to apply for a project grant are doctoral researchers affiliated with a dermato-venereological university unit where a possible grant will also be managed.
