Now in its fourth year, the Humans In Space (HIS) Challenge continues to grow as a premier platform for advancing space healthcare. The 2025 program introduces 3 core tracks at the intersection of science and innovation: Space Exploration, Life Science, and Artificial Intelligence—each carefully chosen for its potential to drive meaningful advancements both in space and on Earth.

This year’s program will support visionary startups and researchers developing breakthrough technologies and addressing critical healthcare challenges across these domains. Select teams may also have the opportunity to advance their solutions toward onorbit validation in collaboration with our global network of partners, including those providing access to in-space platforms and payload integration support.

Eligibility Requirements

The 2025 Humans In Space Challenge is open to both startups and researchers developing innovative space healthcare solutions. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

1) Startups • Stage: Pre-seed to Series D, with a working prototype • Legal Status: Must be a registered company (if not yet registered, the company must obtain registration by August 2025)

2) Researchers • Affiliation: Must be affiliated with a university or research institute • Academic Level: Must be a graduate student or above (includes master’s students, PHD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty members of all levels)
