Faculty Research Participation at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

The faculty component of the ORISE Research Participation Program provides research training and educational opportunities at CDC facilities to qualified faculty. The goal of the program is to link the CDC’s technologies with the academic community through college and university faculty; enhance the education programs offered by academic institutions; transfer CDC’s knowledge and technology to the academic community; and support the national commitment to science education. All ORISE Research Participation appointments enable faculty members to broaden their professional outlook beyond the classroom to the application of laboratory research.

To be eligible for a faculty appointment, the applicant must currently serve as a full-time faculty member at an accredited college or university. The length of the faculty appointment may vary, with summer appointments for up to three months and sabbatical appointments for up to one year. Faculty appointments are served at a CDC facility under the direction of a research mentor. Stipends for faculty participants are based upon their regular university salary and paid directly to the university.
