The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) accept applications for Short-Term Fellowships and Residency Opportunities in Edinburgh .
The UK's Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funds the ESRC Genomics Network (EGN), dedicated to examining the development and use of the science and technologies of genomics. The activities of the EGN span the whole field of genomics, covering areas as diverse as plant and animal genetics, embryonic stem cell research, and associated health applications.
The Genomics Policy and Research Forum is located at the University of Edinburgh. The Forum is part of the ESRC Genomics Network, and "acts to integrate the diverse strands of social science research within and beyond this network; to develop links between social scientists and scientists working across the entire range of genomic science and technology; and to connect research in this area to policy makers, business, the media and civil society in the UK and abroad."
The Forum runs a fellowship and residency programme (the Bright Ideas programme), which is open to international applicants.. The programme provides an opportunity for individuals to spend a period of time - anything between a few days and two months - in residence at the Forum. The scheme is open to anyone concerned with the social dimensions of genetics, genomics and the new life sciences, whether natural or medical scientists, medical practitioners, social scientists, artists, writers and musicians, policy makers and others working in public service and civil society, and individuals from the worlds of industry and commerce.
