Clinical Research Training Fellowship (CRTF) in Adolescent Dermatology

Medical Research Foundation

The Medical Research Foundation is delighted to be co-funding with the Medical Research Council (MRC) a Clinical Research Training Fellowship (CRTF) in Adolescent Dermatology.

We are inviting applications from clinicians who have the potential to be the research leaders of the future, to support research that will increase understanding of adolescent skin disorders and their treatment. Researchers whose work may lead to better understanding of prevention, treatment or management of these disorders are welcome to apply.

Funding available

The Medical Research Foundation and the MRC will make the below costs available, for up to three years.

Awards may also be held on a part-time basis to meet personal commitments. Please get in touch with the Research Team at research@medicalresearchfoundation.org.uk if you would like to discuss part-time opportunities further.

a salary appropriate to your level of training, up to but not including NHS consultant level
tuition fees at standard home student rate (set by the research organisation) or supervisors’ time
up to £25,000 each year to cover consumables, equipment and travel

Awards funded through this competition will follow standard Medical Research Council and Medical Research Foundation terms and conditions. The terms and conditions spell out the responsibilities of the Principal Investigator and the Lead Research Organisation. The Principal Investigator and the Lead Research Organisation are required to indicate their formal acceptance of the proposal, their acceptance of the terms and conditions of an award, and the approval of the salaries and resources sought in the application.

The Medical Research Foundation may add additional conditions to a grant award to reflect the particular circumstances and requirements of the funding, or the nature of a particular award. Eligibility Requirements

The pre-doctoral CRTF supports clinicians, including (but not limited to) medics, surgeons, dentists, clinical psychologists, public health specialty trainees, allied health professionals, nurses, midwives and veterinarians, to undertake a PhD or other higher research degree.

The post-doctoral CRTF provides a route for post-doctoral applicants who achieved their PhD some time ago but who have not been research active since due to clinical training commitments to reacquire research skills.

We welcome applications to this fellowship from clinicians whose research will address the questions surrounding skin disorders of relevance to adolescents, such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, alopecia and vitiligo.
