The battle against cancers in children, adolescents, and young adults is a key focus of the national 2021-2030 Ten-year Strategy for Cancer Control, bolstered by additional annual funding since 2019.
Objectives of the call
To expand and rejuvenate the pool of French research in paediatric oncology, we aim to attract researchers from all nationalities to establish new research teams in France focused on paediatric cancers. This programe targets candidates currently conducting research internationally or who have been in France for no more than 36 months.
Targeted domains
Proposed projects should be innovative, address current challenges in the field, and have potential benefits for patients. They should fall within the scope of fundamental or translational research, excluding purely clinical research, and can span any discipline, including epidemiology and the social sciences and humanities. Projects must align with the technical environment of the host institution and provide significant added value. The projects should be designed to span a 60-month period.
Special characteristics
To achieve its goals, the programme offers broad eligibility criteria (no restrictions on age, nationality, professional status, etc.) and particularly attractive financial conditions. The Chair can be combined with other fundings secured by the laureates for the same project.
To effectively expand and renew the French pool of research teams in paediatric oncology, the Inserm programme Chair in paediatric oncology research has established deliberately broad eligibility criteria, enhancing its financial attractiveness:
