Call for funding for alcohol research

Systembolaget's Alcohol Research Council

Systembolaget's Alcohol Research Council annually distributes funds to various research projects. This is done by the council conducting an independent review of applications for research funds received in relation to Systembolaget. The review is based on the scientific quality and societal relevance of the projects. According to the council's statutes, the council shall prioritize social science and public health alcohol research, together with research that is of particular importance for the prevention of alcohol-related harm. A stated purpose of the support is to strengthen the alcohol research area in Sweden.
The Alcohol Research Council mainly supports applied research and finances projects with between SEK 200,000 and 800,000 per year.

The application must be formulated in such a way that council members with different types of expertise are given the opportunity to assess the application in the best possible way.

The scientific members assess the scientific quality of the application. This includes scoring, for example, the question and method/feasibility. The general representatives on the council assess the societal relevance of the application and the relevance of the question. Scientific quality and societal relevance weigh equally in the overall assessment.
