American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR) Investigator-Initiated Research Grant Program, based in Arlington, VA, USA
AICR manages and administers the AICR Investigator-Initiated Grant Program and accepts applications from the Americas (North America, Central America including the Caribbean and South America). Applicants must have an academic appointment at the Assistant Professor (or equivalent) level or higher.

AICR Investigator-Initiated Research Grant Program Individual grants offer a maximum funding of $150,000 plus 10 percent indirect costs provided over a two-year term. A limited number of three-year term Investigator-Initiated Research Grants (maximum of $225,000 plus 10 percent indirect costs) may be funded. The three-year grants are only awarded to support the conduct of epidemiologic or intervention studies that cannot feasibly be conducted within the 2-year period
Grant application deadlines:
• AICR uses proposalCENTRAL for online submission of grant applications. There are two stages to the application process: (1) Letters of Intent (LOI) and (2) Full Applications. Letters of Intent are required from all applicants and must be submitted by January 17, 2025.
• Previously submitted Full Applications may be revised and resubmitted. If a Full Application for an InvestigatorInitiated Research Grant was submitted in a previous grant cycle but the project was not funded, the Principal Investigator may submit a Letter of Intent to revise the application in the 2025 grant cycle. LOIs for revised proposals will not automatically be selected for the Full Application stage.
• Letters of Intent will be evaluated by the AICR Research Team and the Co-Chairs of the Grant Review Panel. A limited number of LOIs will be selected for invitation to submit a Full Application. No reviewer feedback is provided to the applicant at the Letter of Intent stage.
• Invitationsto submit Full Applications will be issued by AICR by March 7, 2025.
• Full Applications must be submitted by May 16, 2025
• Principal Investigators must have a PhD, MD or equivalent degree, and be research staff or a faculty member at a non-profit academic or research institution at the level of Assistant Professor (or its equivalent) or higher. • Applications for the AICR Grant Program will be accepted only from the Americas (North America, Central America including the Caribbean, and South America). Applications from anywhere else in the world should be submitted to the WCRF International Grant Program (www.wcrf.org).
